Cops say “one lone shooter” is on the loose and that the victims were shot in the makeup department of Macy’s store.
No motive has been established but authorities said they were looking for a Hispanic male in his 20s or 30s with a close-shaved haircut and wearing a black shirt.
It is thought he is armed with a gun similar to a hunting rifle, which he used in the attack.
Officers evacuated the mall last night at around 8.30pm local time
Authorities say they have ‘no information suggesting further attacks’
The FBI are now assisting officers in Washington, in the north-west of the country, with their investigation and said on Twitter that it “has no information to suggest additional attacks planned”.
The town of Burlington is located approximately 60 miles north of Seattle and Sgt. Francis said the gunman was last seen walking towards Interstate 5 at 7pm.
The state’s governor, Jay Inslee, said in a statement: “Trudi and I send our condolences to the families of the victims and prayers for anyone injured.
“We urge residents to heed all safety and detour warnings. Stay close to your friends and loved ones as we await more information and, hopefully, news of the suspect’s capture.”

Tari Caswell said she was in the Macy’s women’s dressing room when she heard “what sounded like four balloons popping”.
She told the Skagit Valley Herald: “Then I heard seven or eight more, and I just stayed quiet in the dressing room because it just didn’t feel right. And it got very quiet.
